CARL COOK #5
Junglewood is pleased to introduce our line of Carl Cook #5 bamboo products; baseball bats, drumsticks and sunglasses. In honour of my brother and the enjoyment he received swimming with the Special Olympics, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Special Olympics.I don’t know where the #5 came from and maybe Carl is the only one that does. But that is how he signed his name. Carl Cook #5, my brother.
Carl learned to swim at the HRDH in Orillia where he was a resident until the age of 30. He spent hours in the water at our cottage with his frog mask and flippers, his favourite apparel. I remember him going to bed geared up for snorkeling. When he was younger he had the opportunity to join the swim team for the Special Olympics a fond memory that he would look back on with great pride.
Carl would enjoy coming to the Junglewood shop and helping out with the bamboo baseball bats. He liked hearing stories about the Jungle in Central America. I taught Carl to say, ‘diacachimba’ a greeting in Nicaragua that means good vibe. It was reduced to Chimba and a fist bump.
Chimba!!!
